Dr. Phyllis Neumann
Dr. Phyllis Neumann received her B.S. in Biology from Southampton College in 1980 and her M.S. in Epidemiology from Texas A & M University in 1982. After working for the USDA and Texas A & M University for 2 years, she was accepted into the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A & M. She received her DVM in 1988 and has been practicing small animal medicine since then. She is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Greater Peninsula Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Animal Hospital Association. She attends continuing education classes annually and her professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, public health and animal behavior. She is a regular guest on the Public Radio call-in show, HearSay With Cathy Lewis, where she appears monthly to answer questions from the Hampton Roads community about pet health. When she’s not working she enjoys kayaking, hiking, biking, running, gardening, and throwing the ball for her Golden Retriever, “Dale”. She is also an active member of the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club where she has served on the Board of Directors for several years. She enjoys volunteering her time to do trail maintenance on the Appalachian Trail as well as several state and local parks in the Tidewater area.
